The dark, iridescent sound worlds of composer Lovro Žagar (b. 2004) have been explored through commissions and performances by international festivals, ensembles, and artists including Peter Sheppard Skærved, Lisa Cella, Eighth Blackbird, Cantus Ensemble, and the Zagreb Soloists.

His orchestral and choral compositions have been workshopped by the Choir and Symphony Orchestra of Croatian Radiotelevision under Tomislav Fačini and Pascal Rophé, and in summer 2025, as a selected fellow for a platform connecting young choreographers and composers, his electronic music for ballet was performed at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.

He has attended festivals and masterclasses in USA, Switzerland and Spain, including Mixtur Barcelona, working with Luca Francesconi, Agustí Charles and Cassandra Miller.

Lovro was awarded the Rector’s Prize of the University of Zagreb, where he studied piano performance before switching to composition, currently studying with Srećko Bradić.
